ONEIL & Associates
A SAM.gov integration roadmap for government opportunity capture.
ONEIL needed Salesforce to automatically capture and track government contract opportunities from SAM.gov rather than relying on manual monitoring.

Operating challenge
The project needed to pull public opportunity data into Salesforce with user-defined filters, pagination, scheduled retrieval, retry logic, logging, alerts, testing, and documentation so government opportunity tracking could become an operating process.
What Lodestone shaped
- Designed a Salesforce integration with the SAM.gov Get Opportunities Public API using filtered parameters from the ONEIL team.
- Scoped scheduled data retrieval, pagination support, lead creation, batch processing, Apex coverage, manual testing, and deployment documentation.
- Added retry handling, error logs, and email alerts so failed retrievals could be noticed and investigated.
Resulting direction
- Government opportunities could flow into Salesforce as actionable leads instead of requiring manual checks.
- Pagination, retries, and alerts reduced the risk of quiet failures in the opportunity-capture process.
- The team had a clear implementation plan for a focused integration that could be delivered and tested quickly.
